Frequently Asked Questions

  • New England Therapy Center works directly with many insurance companies and plans. Please call with specific inquiries. We will proceed with billing our contracted insurance companies for services rendered. With this billing option, you may be responsible for a co-pay which will be due at the time of service. You will be responsible for any deductibles that apply. Furthermore, should your insurance carrier deny or fail to pay your claim, or fail to pay your claim in full, you as the parent/guardian will be responsible for payment of the services and/or the payment balance which was not covered by insurance. It is the family's responsiblity to verify benefits and/or coverage of services BEFORE your first appointment. Click here for a list of questions to ask your insurance carrier. New England Therapy Center also accepts private/out-of-pocket payment and can provide patients with a detailed receipt containing treatment and diagnosis codes. Families may submit claims to their individual insurance companies for possible reimbursement for services.

PLEASE NOTE: Network participation does not guarantee coverage of services. Some insurance plans do not cover speech-language therapy services unless they are considered to be "medically necessary." Contact your insurance company to inquire about medical necessity guidelines that may apply to your plan.

  • Yes, additional services can be beneficial for children under 3 years of age, as this is a critical time in a child's early development. Most insurance companies will cover both Early Intervention and private therapy services if the child has need for both.

  • While there are standardized developmental milestones, children will develop language at varying rates. There is a grace period for each milestone aquired of about 3 months. If you are concerned about your child's language development, it is recommended that you contact your child's pediatrician and New England Therapy Center to discuss your concerns. We offer speech and language screenings and/or consultations free of charge which can be beneficial in determining if a comprehensive evaluation may be needed. Please reference the link below from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA)'s website for more information on language development:

  • Yes, we do. While the majority of our patients are pediatric (birth - 21), we are qualified and very willing to treat adult patients with any disorder or neurodiversity they may be experiencing. Please contact us with any questions to determine if an evaluation may be appropriate.

  • If you decide you would like to move forward with a comprehensive evaluation, you will be asked to complete the Initial Patient Intake Paperwork, which will be provided to you via our secure patient portal.

Upon arriving for the evaluation, the therapist will conduct an interview with the parent/guardian to obtain a case history and will discuss the current concerns. Evaluations typically last 45 minutes-1 hour and consist of standardized testing, clinical observations, and parent/guardian interviews.

A detailed summary of findings and any recommendations will be provided to the parent. If speech therapy or occupational therapy is recommended and the parent decides to move forward with treatment, a schedule will be developed.

  • Any cancellation made within 24-hours of the appointment is considered a late cancellation, regardless of the reason for the cancellation. The late cancellation fee is $50. We do allow patients to come in for a makeup appointment in order to waive the late cancellation fee. The fee is only waived upon completion of the makeup appointment. Please note that, if you schedule a makeup appointment and then late cancel the makeup appointment as well, that counts as two late cancellations ($50 per visit, so $100 total).
